Nga Mataapuna is made up of a collective of Maori Health, Maori Social Services and Maori Development Providers. The structure is Maori Governance, Maori Management and Maori initiated. Te Manu Toroa Management alongside Larissa Clarke from the Maori Unit DHB, were key players in the establishment of Nga Mataapuna Oranga and still continue to provide an active functional role in all areas.

Nga Mataapuna Oranga is a Kaupapa Maori Primary Health Organisation established to provide for Health Providers packages of care to enrolled populations. Nga Mataapuna Oranga has set a goal to ensure all Maori and their whänau have access to high quality primary health care services. Nga Mataapuna Oranga underpins Maori values and philosophies, is by Maori for Maori but not exclusive to Maori (is open to all New Zealanders).
Nga Mataapuna Oranga Primary Health Organisation is a local non profit organisation funded by the Government to provide low cost GP consultations to all. The focus is on affordable quality health care for all the whänau with specialised community nursing attached to it.
