Social Worker

Kahurangi Community Services team are looking for a full time Social Worker to support and assist vulnerable, hapū and parenting teens and their tamariki. As part of the team you will be working in a Kaupapa Māori Integrated Services in Tauranga Moana. Providing whānau focused and strengths based services that encourages whānau to make positive life style choices, while ensuring their tamariki have the best possible start in life.

This is an existing opportunity for a caring, compassionate individual who has great listening skills, who wants to make a difference in their community and the lives of others. We are looking for a mature person who is respectful of others, and who is culturally sensitive.

You will be required to have a Bachelors Degree qualification, in Social Work, and hold a current full NZ drivers licence. Experience in care and protection would be an advantage but not compulsory.

Desire Requirements:
- Experience working with whānau and families with high needs
- A passion for working with young parents and tamariki
- Can engage confidently with whānau and community agencies
- Has an understanding of practice from a Kaupapa perspective or is open to learning

In addition, experience and understanding of working with Māori and with a diverse range of cultures is a requirement of the position.
